Kılıçdaroğlu said to have told confidants he will not run for CHP leadership again

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the leader of the Republican People's Party (CHP), is rumored to have informed his close associates that he has no intentions of seeking re-election for either the party leadership or the presidency. Esteemed journalist Fatih Altaylı revealed this information, citing backstage sources. Altaylı shared his insights in an article titled "Kılıçdaroğlu: 'I will not become a candidate again,'" published on his website on June 8.

According to Altaylı, a few trusted CHP executives had inquired about the party's future direction and Kılıçdaroğlu's plans. In response, Kılıçdaroğlu unequivocally stated, "This was my first and final presidential candidacy. I will not seek any position again, including the presidency." Altaylı added that Kılıçdaroğlu does not intend to step down from the CHP leadership, at least until the local elections scheduled for March 2024.

Although one of Kılıçdaroğlu's confidants reportedly suggested making this intention public, the CHP leader neither opposed nor provided a clear response.
